The U.S. housing market has cooled this year in the wake of the Federal Reserve’s effort to combat inflation and slow the economy, with home sales declining and price growth moderating.

This trend has extended to the most expensive U.S. ZIP codes, according to a new report from PropertyShark. This year, 70 of the 122 ZIP codes in the top 100, including 18 ties, experienced price drops, up from just 15 in 2022.

A few ZIP codes defied the trend by a wide margin.

To determine the most expensive ZIP codes in the United States, PropertyShark researchers examined residential transactions closed between Jan. 1 and Oct. 20, taking into account condos, co-ops and single- and two-family homes, but excluding all package deals.

For an accurate representation, they considered only ZIP codes that registered a minimum of three residential transactions. They rounded median sale prices to the nearest $1,000.

See the accompanying gallery for the 11 most expensive U.S. ZIP codes this year, according to PropertyShark.
