Marc Wanless appointed Underwriting Director for Corporate Lines Global Corporate Specialty

Aviva has announced that Marc Wanless has been appointed as its permanent Underwriting Director for Corporate Lines, GCS. The new role is one of three new underwriting director roles, which will help drive Aviva’s growth ambition for GCS.  The other two underwriting director roles were announced in July, and include Ramesh Singh as Underwriting Director, Financial Lines and Matt Gordon, who was promoted to Underwriting Director, Specialty Lines and Multinational.

Marc has been working in this role on an interim basis since July and was selected after a wide-reaching search. In his new role, Marc will have oversight of Corporate Property, Motor and Casualty and will be accountable for both the underwriting strategy and overall P&L associated with the Motor, Casualty and Property books for GCS. He will report directly to Matt Washington, Managing Director, Commercial Lines Underwriting and GCS, and will take up the role with immediate effect.

Marc joined Aviva in 2010 and is well known in the market from his time working across a range of roles in GCS, most recently as Head of Commercial Motor.

Speaking about Marc’s appointment, Matt Washington said: “I’d like to congratulate Marc on his new role. I know that his valuable insight, contribution and experience will be beneficial as we continue to deliver on our ambition and growth plans for GCS. Marc’s appointment also reflects the strong talent pipeline that exists within Aviva’s GCS team.”
