Pharmacy claim processed after coverage end date

Hello!

I resigned from my job on 10/09 but on 10/19 the insurance and the company HR still showed me as active and I ended up getting a last prescription filled. Prior to filling the prescription, I asked HR if my insurance ends the day I resigned and was told that it wouldn’t become inactive until the manager entered in that I was resigned. I then clarified and asked if that date would be backdated as 10/09 or if it would be the date they entered it in. HR told me it was the day it was keyed in.

The claim for the medication was processed and accepted and the medication was delivered. But now as I requested a COB letter I see the insurance coverage end date is 10/09. Turns out the HR rep I talked with was wrong and they did backdate the coverage ending to my last day.

Should I be anticipating that I’ll get a letter/bill requiring me to pay for the medication I filled 10/19? If so, will it be for the amount the insurance paid or will it be for a total amount?

I’m trying to find a claim amount for it and am not having luck so I have no idea how much it will cost if I have to pay the market value for it.

Thanks in advance!
