[Dental Insurance] Will my provider pay for major restorative care (dental implant) that began–and was paid for–prior to loss of coverage?

My wife needs a dental implant (1 tooth). Her dental coverage is under my employer's policy. I believe that I will lose my job soon, and she will lose that coverage.

The entire process for an implant takes several months. The dentist gave her 2 options:

Pay for the full amount (not covered by the insurance provider) on the first visit. Pay for each part of the procedure separately, on the date of each recurring visit.

If she were to choose option 1, and I lose my job before the process is complete, would the dentist still be able to bill the insurance provider for any part of the procedure performed after the loss of coverage? Or will she be left paying the full amount for any work completed after that date?

I've paid in full for a crown that wasn't completed until the following year (i.e., started in December & finished in January) to use my full benefit. After the procedure was complete, I had the maximum benefit available for the remainder of the year. That led me to assume that option 1 would allow her to utilize the full benefit even if she loses coverage.
