[URGENT] Tons of chronic health conditions and none of the health insurance agents can tell me if I still have health insurance!

I’m in my late 20s and have no job/income currently and have been on Indiana HIP for a while. I have significant health issues that require regular medication, infusions, etc. Recently I was told I need at least one surgery and if I don’t get it soon it could turn into an emergency surgery situation. This isn’t even my main health problem at the moment. To say this is a bad time to not have health insurance is an understatement and I’m incredibly stressed over this situation.

My mom died recently and less than a month ago I received a life insurance payout from that. I reported it to FSSA during the month of September, sent some documents to verify, and tried to get an answer if it was considered income and/or whether I’d be losing my insurance the following month ( October). I’ve called many times and keep getting a different answer. None of the customer support agents know for sure! I don’t want to keep using my health insurance only to be told I have to pay it back in a month. While the life insurance is substantial, it’s not enough to live off of and would quickly be depleted. I don’t want to end up with significant medical debt. I plan to go back to school soon and swap to my university’s plan, but I need to get healthy enough first.

As of yesterday, I have zero clue if I’m actually insured this month so I have cancelled any appointments I had this week. I am legit worried I might actually die without my meds or end up in an expensive emergency situation. I’ve never been so sick before in my life. I don’t know if I should be applying to marketplace insurance now or wait the full 13 business days that the insurance agents have been telling me, but I legit might end up in the hospital before then. If I apply now, would it even count for this month? If I lose my insurance, will I quality for it again the following month? My mind is incredibly foggy right now from being sick for so long so it’s difficult for me to type this up much less research and understand what I’m reading. I’m literally on the verge of tears, I’m so overwhelmed. Please help me figure out what I should be doing.

TLDR; Does a one-time life-insurance payout in the state of Indiana disqualify you for Indiana HIP? If it does, is it too late to apply to marketplace insurance? Is there anything else I should be doing?
