Melissa McDermott (pictured) is joining Everest Insurance to take on the role of global chief actuary with immediate effect.

Reporting to Everest Insurance president and chief executive Mike Karmilowicz, McDermott brings around three decades of experience from the likes of AXA XL and Travelers to Everest Group’s insurance division. She most recently held the position of North America general insurance chief actuary at AIG.

As part of her new remit, McDermott will partner with the actuarial, underwriting, claims, and reserving teams.

Commenting on the appointment, Karmilowicz said in a release: “Melissa is a recognised leader in the actuarial world, known for shaping complex, global pricing and reserving strategies that drive profitable growth.

“She is a strategic, trusted partner to underwriters, business leaders, and brokers industry-wide, and I am thrilled Melissa is here to support the continued success of our insurance portfolio at a time of ongoing growth and expansion.”
