Question about Extending COBRA Coverage for Adult Disabled Child – Dental and Health Insurance

Hey r/HealthInsurance community,

I hope you’re all doing well. I have a question that’s been on my mind and would greatly appreciate your insights. I’m 29 years old and have been covered by my mother’s employer’s health insurance plan, even after turning 26, why they extended this I’m not exactly sure. The coverage was extended beyond 26, specifically for dental benefits.

However, to my surprise, the coverage for both dental recently came to an unexpected end. I’m now facing uncertainty about whether they would extend coverage for an adult disabled child, both for dental and health insurance.

I was wondering if anyone here has encountered a similar situation or has knowledge about whether COBRA health insurance through an employer can be extended for adult disabled children, covering both dental and health benefits. Your personal experiences, advice, or any information you might have would be immensely valuable to me.

Given the complexity of the situation, I’m considering reaching out to the health insurance provider directly, but I wanted to tap into your collective wisdom first. Additionally, if you have any recommendations for consulting healthcare or insurance professionals, please feel free to share.

Thank you all in advance for your time and assistance! Your insights mean a lot to me.
