Urgent Help Required: Navigating Health Insurance Transition

Hello everyone, I need urgent advice regarding a health insurance dilemma. I'm experiencing back problems and have visited the hospital a few times, but unfortunately, I'm not feeling better and need further assistance from medical professionals.

Currently, I'm covered by my employer's insurance plan, which has a high deductible of $3000 and an out-of-pocket maximum of $6000. I've decided to quit my job on August 4th and take a couple of months off for rest and treatment before starting a new job. During this time, I planned to enroll in the best Kaiser insurance option available (with a $0 deductible and $4500 out-of-pocket maximum).

When I contacted their customer support, I was informed that since I'll have coverage in August (even if only for four days), I won't be able to select my new plan by August 1st. Instead, I'll have to wait until either September 1st or quit the job by July 31st and cancel my current insurance to start my new insurance by August 1st.

This raised concerns for me because it means I could potentially be without insurance from August 5th until the start of September, which I want to avoid. I contacted another insurance agent who mentioned that having dual insurance for a brief period should be okay in my case. However, I'm still confused and unsure if it's legal and permitted to have multiple insurance. I'm unable to conduct thorough research due to my back problem. Can you please help me with this query? Thank you.

I’m 29 currently residing at pin code 94040 and my income is around 160 K
