Sedgwick has announced the appointment of Janet Dunlap as the new general adjuster for its Canadian operations in Halifax.

With experience as a multiline adjuster in Atlantic Canada, Dunlap has handled complex cases involving theft, fire, auto, commercial liability, and suspicious claims within the Halifax market for over two decades.

Dunlap’s expertise has made her a sought-after resource for internal trainings of customer service representatives in the property and auto insurance domains, according to Sedgwick’s press release.

She has actively collaborated with the Insurance Association of Nova Scotia and the Insurance Bureau of Canada, leading presentations in local markets.

Mary Ann Anderson, vice president national sales/regional manager for Atlantic Canada, commented on Dunlap’s appointment, calling her knowledge and experience an “invaluable resource” for the Sedgewick team.

“Janet’s extensive knowledge of the adjuster workflow and experience, ranging from hurricane response to litigation and subrogation, is an invaluable resource for our team in eastern Canada,” said Anderson.

“Her on-the-ground approach to understanding customer needs and developing relationships within repair networks aligns with our commitment to improving claim outcomes, reducing cycle times and taking care of people when it matters most.”

Dunlap received her Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada. She is a licensed independent insurance adjust, as well as a former executive member of the Nova Scotia Insurance Women’s Association (NWSIA).

This latest appointment comes as Sedgwick continues to grow its loss adjusting and claims resolutions services across Canada.

Last month, Sedgwick announced the appointment of two regional managers to oversee operations in the Atlantic and Western regions. Anderson was named regional manager of Atlantic Canada, while Devin Shillington took on the same role for the Western region.
