Hi all,

I’ve been on a health journey for about 8 months – training 4-5 days/week, working on more disciplined and structured eating, etc. and while I’m significantly healthier (stronger, better blood pressure, etc.) I’ve not lost a ton of weight.

To give some preface, I deal with an eating disorder called ARFID. I have not been formally diagnosed yet due to the backup in resources, (I have an official appointment in August), but several doctors have indicated that I have all the symptoms, which I tend to agree with. There’s a long journey ahead to dealing with that, which has played a difficult role in my weight loss journey.

I’ve been seeking out help through whoever I can: trainers, dietitians, therapists, doctors, etc. which led me to seeing a weight loss doctor. It felt like the answer to my prayers. However, after prescribing a series of medications, my insurance denied all of them. My employer opted out of covering any medication related to weight loss and I am devastated. The medications cost well over $1000 a month out of pocket and I don’t know what to do. There’s no coupon codes, and I feel like I’m at the end of the line.

I fully understand that there are no magic pills for weight loss, but I have been pushing myself so hard for months without seeing the results to keep me going, and my drive to keep going is wavering. I’m so tired, and I was so excited to finally have some help.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Is there anything else that I can do? Supplemental insurance? Anything at all. I am so desperate.
