I called to cancel my medicaid in another state I didnt live in, and they couldnt cancel it "fully" until I called another company to go through with the cancellation. I was transferred to them, because they had direct access to their lines. When I started speaking to this woman, she was asking me to spell out my full name, address, social (in full, which is usually just the last 4) and even asked me about my household, income, forms of payment we use (ie. Credit cards, checking accounts) and wanted my consent to having all of my tax information used. I told her this wasnt normal information to ask for, to which she declined my concerns as needless. I thought it was weird. Im just trying to cancel my insurance. Why did she need my entire households information and their filing status and mine? She then told me to call the govt health marketplace to finally "fully cancel" my insurance, which is why I was transferred to her, so I asked "Then why did we speak if I have to call another number?" And was so confused. She told me its just how it goes. She then had me sign consent forms over the phone. Is this a scam? Should I call police to report it, and let the insurance company who transferred me to this woman know that its a scam? It just sounds fishy. Ive never been asked to "Spell your name out and address, and include punctuation/how it sounds" like what??????
