I left my job in the beginning of April 2023 bc I had just found out I was pregnant (march) and was mentally not willing to put up with the stress there. Well I've had my OB appointments and also High Risk appts due to some minor health issues but nothing too serious, my OB just wants to monitor. That makes 2 appointments every month that I go to, which I have been paying my copayment. Well, yesterday (Thurs) I went to my regular OB appt and the receptionist tells me that I am not covered with my insurance anymore. I say "I'm sorry, what? I just had my high risk appt yesterday (Wed) and paid my copay… how's that possible?" She said "well I called today to verify your benefits and they told me your insurance ended April 30."

I was bamboozled to say the least. She said I would have to call my insurance to figure things out. I did. Apparently, no one had called prior to any of my appointments to verify my benefits/copay and just took what was already in the "system catalog" for how much my copay would be. He claimed that I shouldn't be charged for any prior appointments as it wasn't my fault that providers did not call to verify before my appointments.

My thing is now, I can't be added to my husband's work insurance plan bc it's been more than 60 days since my insurance was terminated. I never received a letter saying I didn't have insurance either which is why I never knew when it ended.

What can I do? I have my next appt in 4 weeks. Not to mention giving birth late Nov before I can be enrolled in my husband's insurance policy.
