First Look: Special edition Triumph Tiger 900’s

Triumph Tiger 900 Aragon

Triumph releases two new special editions of its Tiger 900

It’s a year since Triumph’s off-road riding legend and race team boss Ivan Cervantes won the famous Baja Aragón Rally. Riding a Tiger 900 Rally Pro, Cervantes won the 300 mile elite-level race by over an hour, despite facing competitors on more conventional race machinery.

And now the Hinckley firm has produced a pair of special Aragón Rally special editions – a Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Aragón and the Tiger 900 GT Aragón.

Both have one-off paint designs that celebrate the Aragón race win, with the Tiger 900 Rally Aragón featuring a subtle three-colour scheme of Matt Phantom Black, Matt Graphite and Crystal White, with bright Racing Yellow accents matched with Triumph Tiger and Aragón Edition detailing, as well as a new and unique twin colour seat design.

The GT Aragón edition is a bit brighter with a triple colour palette of Diablo Red, Matt Phantom Black and Crystal White.

Both the new bikes use the same Tiger 900 three-cylinder 12v DOHC engine, putting out 94bhp and 87Nm of torque, in a steel tube trellis frame, with aluminium swingarm.

The GT comes with adjustable suspension at both ends: fully manual adjustable Marzocchi 45mm USD front forks, and a rear shock with electronically adjustable preload and rebound damping.

The GT meanwhile uses less trick Showa forks and rear shock, with manual adjustment. The Rally edition has wire-spoked tubeless wheels, with a larger 21” front rim, while the GT has more road-friendly cast aluminium wheels, and a 19” front.

Brakes are the amazing Brembo Stylema four-piston dual calipers up front, which wouldn’t look out of place on a superbike from a year or so back, and both bikes have high-end rider aids setups and a colour LCD dash, plus 20 litre fuel tanks for longer days in the saddle.

Each of the Aragon Tiger 900 editions come with engine protection bars pre-fitted, and the Rally Aragon also comes with the massive fuel tank protection cage, for the ultimate in off-road styling and security. There’s also a massive range of more than 60 accessories from the Triumph range that will fit straight onto the Aragon bikes.

The Tiger 900 is one of Hinckley Triumph’s best bikes we reckon: it’s more manageable than the big 1200 for many riders, and the engine is a cracker, with loads of power and smooth grunt.

The choice of GT or Rally and the Pro editions mean you can get an off-road or on-road as you prefer, with loads of kit and accessories as standard.

It’s definitely worth a look – and with these posh Aragon race rep versions, there’s an extra fancy option to go for.
