New to insurance- do I have any chance if I missed timely filing? Please help!

I would really appreciate some help as I have not had insurance before a year ago so I am quite overwhelmed. I had a doctor's visit that I was made to believe would be in network in November of last year. In mid-April I received a bill and didn't know what to do so even though it was very expensive I paid it. I just now realized they have an online portal and when I logged on I see they messaged me saying they had a billing question on April 15th and then on April 17th generated my bill (which on their website says insurance covered 0%). Even if they were out of network I thought some percentage should be covered. I am now stressed again about this and wondering if there's any way to submit/re-submit this to insurance (I am not even sure this Dr. ever did). I checked my insurance plan and it says the timely filing deadline seems to be 180 days from DATE OF APPT (even though they only sent the bill half a year later). I would appreciate some help navigating this, thank you very much!
