Comparing Employer Plans $0 – $200 bi-weekly premiums

Fortunate to have been on a $0 premium health plan when I was just insuring myself, young healthy M25, my wife and I are now expecting and plan to deliver mid-2024, and pregnancy is not a qualifying event in my state (MI). What plan would be best to switch to or stay on going into 2024 open enrollment?

I’m comparing these three options:

Plan 2: non-HSA
Family Deductible: $2,500
Bi-weekly Premium: $201.12 (x26) = $5229.12 annual
Out-of-pocket Maximum: $12,700
Copays $30-$150, big ticket items are still only 80% covered (including childbirth)

Plan 3: HSA HDHP
Family Deductible: $3,000
Bi-weekly Premium: $91.69 (x26) = $2,383.94 annual
Out-of-pocket Maximum: $4,500
Most items are 80% covered after deductible

Plan 5: HSA HDHP
Family Deductible: $7,000
Bi-weekly Premium: $0 (x26) = $0 annual
Out-of-pocket Maximum: $9,000
EVERY in-network item in my plan is 100% covered after deductible, even childbirth

All plans have similar coverage regarding preventative care items, including pre-natal stuff.

With plans to definitely have a baby born in 2024, and I’d say complications-risk is med-higher than average. I typically don’t seek health care for myself but my wife has prescriptions and has Dr. visits more than average.

I’m leaning towards Plan 5 as it personally makes the most sense, as once deductible hits we can just be super liberal with our healthcare, as I have a tendency to avoid care due to costs. The difference in deductible + premium between 3 & 5 is pretty small and depending on the ultimate cost of some procedures, plan 3 would get expensive fast.

Thanks in advance.
