I was misinformed and now owe a lot of money. Pls help

Hi everyone.

I turned 26 last summer and had to apply for my own health insurance plan last November. I am transgender and go to a hospital that has a specific transgender wellness center that I have very frequent visits with in Indianapolis. When applying for a plan I did my best to make sure the plan I applied for covered my hospital as someone navigating the health insurance market for the first time. Even since then I checked to make sure my insurance was good to go with my hospital and they saw no problems. So since February I have over 10 visits that, as far I could tell, were meant to be covered. Well I guess something changed or I was misinformed and they are telling me my hospital is out of network and I owe over $6000? I don't know why I am just now getting these bills either. I cannot afford to pay that. I feel screwed over. Obviously I have to stop visiting this hospital for now which is heartbreaking. The issue is that I still need this care but I can't enroll in a new plan until November and I can't go that long without the care I need. And I don't think "ignorant 20-something got overwhelmed by the notoriously confusing health insurance system and signed up for the wrong plan" is a valid reason to be able to apply out of the enrollment period. I don't know what to do and I feel misled. I need this care but cant afford out of pocket and can't wait until next year to be covered again. What do I do? Am I just screwed?
