Im 24yr and have questions about health insurance
Im dumb with this stuff, I don’t have any idea what im doing.This guy my mom knows provides health insurance, last year I called him and set up a plan.I somehow wasn’t paying anything monthly for about a year, like 0$, don’t know what that means or if thats coming out my taxes at the end of the year or what. There was of course co pays that would cost money but the monthly payment was 0.00$ a month
my income HAS changed ( for the better) from 22,000 to 36,000/37,000 in that time
A year later now and my taxes keep getting declined from the IRS.I open up my health insurance letter in the mail and it says my cost monthly will be 345$ starting July 1stThe guy that provides the insurance says he can get it down to 75$ a month.
I can’t help but feel like something weird is going on?I plan on talking to an accountant to help me with my taxes and see what’s up with that, but I don’t understand why I was paying nothing, to 345, then told it can be reduced to 75 .-. like where is this money coming from?Is there something I don’t know and the government is paying the difference? If so am I about to see this accountant and owe the IRS a fuck ton and thats why my taxes are being declined?
I feel like Im about to get ass raped by irs/ government somehow and this whole “health insurance” crap has been a pain in the dick and since I’ve had insurance I’ve used it ONE time. An other than going through this experience and learning, how in the world am I supposed to understand how this works.
I told the guy that provides the insurance I need to talk to my accountant before I continue this health plan because Idk what’s up w my taxes or if low-key he doesn’t know what he’s doing and Ima get screwed over
I have bad anxiety, sometimes I need to vent on here, I know this probably sounds dumb.PLAN
1.) talk to the accountant to help with the taxes and see what Im doing wrong
2.) See if I owe money
3.) decide to continue my plan with them or not
Am I doing the right thing smh..?
