Insurance fundraiser Touch of Colour to be held next month

Report proposes 'self-funding' insurance model for export industries

Annual insurance industry fundraiser Touch of Colour, now in its ninth year, is to be held on May 5.

Hosted by GSA Insurance Brokers, 28 teams from across the insurance industry will compete to raise money for children’s mental health charity KidsXpress. The touch football event has raised over $900,000 and hopes to top $1 million this year.

The Touch of Colour Charity Cup will be presented to the team that raises the most donations, alongside the winners on the field. Axa and Brooklyn Underwriting in Australia have united to compete in the event.

More than $8000 has been pledged so far for the 2023 event, led by the GSA team on $2542.

“The money raised from Touch of Colour has had a huge impact on children’s mental health, but we still have a long way to go,” an Axa spokesperson said. “The changes we see in children completing the KidsXpress therapy programs transforms young lives and our services are needed more than ever before.”

Statistics show anxiety, depression and self-harm are increasing in children and adolescents.

“Our best chance to help them is to intervene early with the right support,” Axa said.

Competing are teams from GSA, Clyde & Co, Chubb, Axa XL & Brooklyn, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, Liberty Specialty Markets, Sparke Helmore, QBE, HDI, EML, Steadfast, Allianz, Kennedys, CGU, Market Lane, Vero, Dual, Zurich and NM Insurance, Swiss RE, SLE Worldwide / Pacific Underwriting, IQumulate, Elantis, AHI, 360 UW, AIG, Wotton & Kearney.

KidsXpress delivers trauma-informed therapy to children under the age of 12 and educates those that care for them. It says by strengthening the emotional wellbeing of children and the capacity of caregivers, it supports vulnerable children.
