Austbrokers, which recently held the Austbrokers Conference 2023, has announced this year’s award winners, described as having demonstrated excellence in the insurance broking profession.

Announced at the last night of the conference, the winners are:


The Frank Earl Award – Allan Amber of MGA Insurance Group;
The Austbrokers Broker of the Year – David Keys from AB Phillips;
The Austbrokers Claims Manager Award – Michael Bannon from Markey Insurance Brokers;
The Austbrokers Life Adviser Award – Gretchen Scannell from Austbrokers Life, working closely with Austbrokers Terrace and MGA Insurance Group; and
The Austbrokers Young Professional Award – Rebecca Broad from MGIB.

What happened in the Austbrokers Conference 2023?

Austbrokers held this year’s conference on April 4 and 5 at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

The conference was attended by 370 insurance professionals and delivered content and programs aligned with the theme “Mission Impossible.” Attendees gained knowledge, skills, and insights and engaged with the broader group of delegates and speakers. A claims managers and young professionals team also availed of specific content.

AUB group CEO and managing director Mike Emmett opened the conference. Over two days, brokers and partners listened to several keynote speakers and participated in diverse topic plenaries, hosted by Austbrokers along with its insurer and agency partners. 

Austbrokers chief broking officer Ben Bessell said: “It was a very successful conference. Engagement in the marketplace and in the formal sessions was fantastic, and the topics discussed led to many constructive conversations over the two days. It was also great to once again hold the awards and showcase the many high-quality individuals we have across Austbrokers.”
