6 April 2023

AUB-owned Austbrokers says 350 attended its annual conference at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The 2023 “mission possible” themed event featured an agenda tailored towards brokers, broking assistants, operational staff and claims managers, discussing challenges and opportunities facing the insurance broking industry.

“A fantastic day at the Austbrokers Conference 2023: Mission Possible, engaging with industry leaders, learning the challenges and opportunities facing the insurance industry and reflecting on how to make our missions ‘possible’,” Austbrokers posted on LinkedIn.

On the agenda were an opening day joint presentation by AUB Group CEO Mike Emmett and Austbrokers Chief Broking Officer Ben Bessell, followed by a QBE-sponsored session on mental health by Sydney Swans Psychologist Suzie Rhydderch, and a session on trends in innovation focused on insurtech and ChatGPT.

Sessions scheduled for the final day included a presentation from 360 Underwriting Solutions CEO Australia Jason Clarke, who joined the business in November, and an update from National Insurance Brokers Association CEO Phil Kewin on the Quality of Advice Review.

Macquarie Equities Senior Equity Research Analyst Andrew Buncombe was scheduled to present on how the Australian general insurance marketplace is changing.
