ABOUT
Keith Lind is a Senior Strategic Policy Advisor in AARP’s Public Policy Institute. He provides policy analysis and advice regarding a variety of Traditional Medicare issues with particular emphasis on Medicare payment and delivery reform. Lind’s work involves Medicare coverage and reimbursement issues for hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, physicians’ offices and more. He assesses the implications of legislative and regulatory changes on the Medicare program, its policies and beneficiaries. Lind works with a variety of data sources, methodologies and analytic techniques to evaluate the impact of Medicare policy changes, demonstrations and pilots, on clinical outcomes, health systems, and Medicare’s financial outlook.
Before joining AARP, Lind served as professional staff of the Senate Finance Committee under Senator Moynihan, the ranking Democratic Senator from New York, with responsibility for issues related to Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care. Prior to that, he served as legislative staff for a Member of the House Commerce Health Subcommittee. Lind worked closely with Democratic and Republican staff of both Houses of Congress, federal agencies, and the White House on major healthcare legislation. He also served as Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff of the Department of Health and Human Services on policy matters relating to long-term care, managed care, and nursing shortage. As a nurse in clinical practice, Lind has experience in both acute hospitals and nursing homes.
He earned his juris doctor from the University of Michigan Law School while spending his third year at Harvard Law School as a visiting student. He received a master in Health Policy & Management from Harvard School of Public Health while spending his second year at the Kennedy School of Government, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Michigan.
