Allianz Global Assistance names business development VP

Marcelo’s focus will be on the business’ broker channel. He will manage the company’s broker sales team and work with brokers across Canada.

Allianz Global Assistance chief sales officer Lucy Hathaway welcomed Marcelo’s appointment, stating that the company is pleased to have him on board during a “time of tremendous growth and abundance in the travel insurance industry.”

“We’re thrilled to have Roger’s vast experience in positively managing broker relationships,” Hathaway said. “His ability to build effective relationships and create new business opportunities will be a tremendous asset to both Allianz and our business partners.”

“I am excited to join the best business development team in the travel insurance industry,” Marcelo said. “I look forward to hitting the ground running and supporting Allianz’s partners and their valued customers with our industry-leading products and services.”

Last September, Allianz Global Assistance became a national sponsor for the Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC), a group that supports cancer research, education, and assistance.

As a national sponsor, the company will support WICC through annual financial and in-kind donations, on top of providing opportunities for employees to volunteer, donate, and assist local communities.

“Through long-standing relationships with our valued broker partners, we’re proud to be part of the insurance industry,” Hathaway said at that time. “We have always been inspired by WICC, and the important work they do in support of cancer research and education. We see this sponsorship as an extension of our own social responsibility commitment to give back to our community.”
