Confused (Strategic Limited Partners, LP)

Alright, so i have a mildly confusing situation.

So basically to start, I am an 19F who was on my fathers health insurance until the beginning of this year as he retired. My parents got me set up with Health partners insurance. That’s all good to go and seemingly legit. So I started a new job around the time I got this new insurance and they offered benefits through Maxwell Health. My manager sat with me and I went through and denied all the benefits. This was beginning of February. Keep in mind i have direct deposit on my checks and i haven’t asked for any paystubs or any way to access them (yet, i will tomorrow.)

All of a sudden today I receive 4 envelopes with cards in them and sheets saying quote “Thank you for becoming a plan participant of your Health Employee Benefit Plan(s) sponsored by Strategic Limited Partners, LP. Your ID card is attached and contains your Limited Partner ID number. You will need to reference your ID number when contacting a Limited Partner services team member. The ID card also contains important information for your medical providers and should be presented when obtaining any medical services.” There’s also info like a phone number and such on the paper. (“For questions, call us at 866-228-3142 or email us at limitedpartnerservices@strategicpartnerslp.com. IMPORTANT NOTICE All cancellations and refund request must be directed to the Limited Partner Service team at 866-228-3142 to ensure proper handling of your cancellation and/or refund.”)

I panicked and called asking to cancel my account and get a refund without checking the company name as i do not need insurance or any benefits, and they asked for my name, address, phone number, and birth date, and the number on the card which was the “Limited Partner ID” which i gave them. They then said they will be issuing a refund of $670 something into my account within 5-10 business days. I have not given them any other personal information or any bank info.

This whole health insurance thing is extremely confusing to me, and I am wondering is this a scam/do i have anything to be worried about? Is this a partner company or something and this was an error? Do you think they have actually had an account open for me and will be refunding money/ did this happen thru my works health insurance? Has this happened to anyone else and if so what happened with it?

I’ve looked through past bank statements and there hasn’t been any money taken that i can see, and to my knowledge they don’t have access to my bank info (at least not from me knowingly) but if it was taken from my checks as actual benefits I would not know until tomorrow/potentially later this week.

I should get answers on that relatively quickly from the paystubs to wether money for benefits has been taken, but if anyone has any input prior to me receiving those paystubs my anxiety is at an all time high from this and would really appreciate the input no matter what it may be.

Sorry if this was a bit all over the place, i honestly have no clue what im talking about with insurance.
