A friend signed up for CoveredNJ with Aetna and paid their first premium. They are unsubsidized. They went to set up autopay, and saw they were disenrolled by NJ. They called Aetna and confirmed they were disenrolled by the NJ marketplace.

They checked their bank account and confirmed the withdrawals for the payment of their premiums. They are currently on hold with the NJ marketplace.

Does anyone have any advice? Any reason this would happen if they were current on their premiums? Maybe some sort of glitch?

UPDATE: The State Marketplace disenrolled them because they qualified for NJ's Medicaid under Medicaid Expansion. However, they would rather go unsubsidized on the ACA and keep their preferred doctor than save out of pocket costs on Medicaid and pick a new doctor (their doctor doesn't take Medicaid).

As an unsubsidized person, can they stick with the ACA marketplace even if they qualify for Medicaid?
