Health insurance EPO vs HDHP
So I'm starting a new job next week and I've got to decide on the health insurance. I've been at the same job for the last 10 years and the same health insurance, so I'm definitely out of the game and I'm having a hard time figuring this out. I've narrowed it down to the EPO or the HDHP. Both seem to be the most economical options for us.
I'm 34, my wife is 32 and we have an almost 2 year old toddler. I'm healthy, just go to the chiropractor occasionally. My wife is mostly healthy, also goes to the chiropractor but she also gets allergy shots once per week. In addition, we're at having another child within the next year or so. Our 2 year old is healthy with an occasional ear infection.
HDHP:
Premium is $525.84 per month. Employer will put $80 per month in to an HSA as well on this plan.
Deductible is $2500 single/$5000 family
OOP Max is $3,425 single/$6,850 family
There is no coinsurance or copay once the deductible is met
Prescriptions are $10/$30/$50
EPO:
Premium is $579.37 per month.
Deductible is $1000 single/$2000 family
OOP Max is $3000 single/$6000 family
Coinsurance is 20%, Copay is $30
Prescriptions are $10/$20/$40
Looking for any and all thoughts and advice! Especially looking to see if one is better for the year she'll be pregnant vs a normal year.
