Colonoscopy Billed as “Diagnosis and Screening”

My father was diagnosed with colon cancer recently, which prompted me to schedule a colonoscopy for myself (35 years old).

I had my visit at the specialist with a referral, told them I just wanted a screening due to my fathers recent diagnosis. All good, they asked if anything else was going on, so I was like “meh not really, x y z occasionally happens, I guess just take a look while you’re there”.

Fast forward, I received a $450 bill just for the visit! I called my insurance company and assumed this was covered, they noted that it would be, but the dr coded it as diag, and screening.

Dr office says it would be insurance fraud because I told them “x y z occasionally happens” so it’s diagnosis.

I wagered that it’s the equivalent of a routine oil change with a multi-point inspection.

Then I told them fine, don’t look at anything else, just do a regular screening.

They still refused to change it. Idk what to do. I’d like to have the procedure, but I don’t wanna pay my full deductible of $2500 for it…thoughts?
