Gore Mutual provides financial support to Türkiye - Syria earthquake relief appeal

Gore Mutual Insurance Company has announced that it is donating $25,000 to the Canadian

Red Cross, in support of the charitable organization’s relief efforts in Türkiye and Syria.

A catastrophic magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred on February 06 that impacted southern and central Türkiye, as well as parts of northern and western Syria. As rescue and relief efforts continue in the affected regions, the resulting death toll has surpassed 40,000.

“The impact of the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria has been devastating,” said Gore Mutual CEO Andy Taylor. “As a modern mutual, we know that supporting organizations on the ground, such as the Canadian Red Cross, will help to reach those most in need and support the recovery of impacted communities. Our thoughts are with the members of these communities, including those here in Canada.”

Gore Mutual also noted in a release that the Government of Canada will match donations made by the public to the Earthquake in Türkiye and Syria Appeal, up to a maximum of $10 million, until February 22.

Also this week, Canada Life joined IGM Financial and Power Corporation of Canada to donate a total of $125,000 to both the Canadian Red Cross and UNICEF Canada in support of their humanitarian efforts in Türkiye and Syria.
