Nexus Underwriting taps product recall expert
Independent specialty managing general agent Nexus Underwriting has announced the appointment of Justin Darlea as assistant vice president of product recall in its specialty casualty business.
Darlea joins Nexus Underwriting US from Starr Insurance Companies, where he served as regional underwriting manager for crisis management.
Prior to Starr, Darlea served as a product recall broker at Marsh & McLennan Companies and an underwriting assistant at Morstan General Agency. He began his insurance career in 2013 at Munich Re.
“This appointment highlights the expansion of the division and the successful launch of the product recall and contamination line of business last year,” said Christof Bentele, president of specialty casualty at Nexus Underwriting US. “Reporting to me, Justin brings with him 10 years of highly relevant experience, both in broking and underwriting, not least in this class and he is now well-placed to expand the business nationwide.

“We set up the Nexus specialty casualty division in the US last year with the aim to roll out a suite of products over the next few years, and I am delighted that Justin has joined the team, who I know will all benefit from his breadth of market knowledge and expertise,” Bentele said.
“I am delighted to be joining Nexus at such an exciting time in its development,” Darlea said. “The product recall and contamination insurance market continues to expand and develop, and I am very much looking forward to bringing my sector expertise to support clients in this segment of the market with differentiated and relevant products to meet their specialized risk management needs.”
