WTW merges Asia, Australasia businesses

16 January 2023

WTW has appointed Simon Weaver as Head of Asia Pacific, a newly created role after the broker combined its Asia and Australasia operations into one regional division.

Mr Weaver, formerly Head of Australasia, started running the Asia Pacific business this month based in Sydney and reports to Head of International Pamela Thomson-Hall. He retains his other position as Head of Corporate Risk and Broking in Asia Pacific.

In his new role he will be responsible for driving business growth, enabling closer collaboration across the businesses to deliver “superior advice, broking and solutions in the areas of people, risk and capital to organisations in the region,” WTW says.

“As clients navigate an increasingly complex and fast-shifting global economy, it is important that WTW maintains its agility and continues to adapt to these changing needs,” Ms Thomson-Hall said.

“The creation of a single Asia Pacific region will help to unlock potential synergies across markets and increase operational efficiency.”

She says Mr Weaver’s leadership across Australasia has been “been inspirational amid volatile market conditions” and his experience will “foster increased regional collaboration and strengthen the delivery of our client offerings as one Asia Pacific”.

Mr Weaver says the announced changes “will be key to maximising WTW’s ability to connect and collaborate without losing the uniqueness of our business segments”.

He joined WTW in 2015 as Head of Singapore and south-east Asia and subsequently led the Corporate Risk and Broking business in Asia and Australasia respectively. In 2018 he became Head of Australasia and Head of Corporate Risk and Broking Australasia.
