HDI Global SE announces senior appointment for Western Australia

Industrial lines insurer HDI Global SE (HDI) has appointed Johannes De Wet as the new senior engineering underwriter for Western Australia (WA).

De Wet (pictured) has more than eight years of industry experience, with expertise in the construction and engineering sector. He will now be responsible for maintaining and growing HDI’s existing engineering portfolio, covering construction, machinery, and renewable energy. He will be based in the HDI Perth branch office.

Haris Michaels, underwriting manager of engineering for Australasia at HDI, said the new hire will strengthen the insurer’s relationships with its broker partners and clients in the state.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Johannes, who will strengthen and support our long-term relationships with key HDI Broker partners and clients in Western Australia, which is part of our growth strategy moving forward,” Michaels added.

David Gibbs, underwriting manager for Western Australia, commented: “We are really excited to have Johannes join us here in WA. The areas he will be focusing on form an exciting and critical part of our future strategy both locally and globally. Johannes’ passion for his line of business and his dedication to delivering solutions-based customer service make him a perfect fit for our team.”

Last year, HDI announced a team overhaul, with new roles as part of its “underwriting transformation” activities.
