I went to the emergency room for a dog bite last October. I have insurance and used that insurance for the medical treatment. I have not met my deductible and so was given a bill of about $6000 of which insurance “adjusted” $2400 leaving me with a balance of $3600. The claim was approved by the insurance.

I called the hospital and apparently they have a standing policy of 75% off for any uninsured visit. This mean that if I was uninsured I would only have to pay $1500. The hospital said that they can rescind the claim if I want to go with the uninsured rate.

My deductible roll over on 1/1 and the above bill is attributed to last year deductible. I have a few questions regarding what could happen if I go ahead with the rescind.

Would rescinding the claim affect my insurance in anyway (ie would it go on some kind of permanent record)

Would this affect my premium in anyway?

Would this affect any future insurance I might get?

Since I get insurance through my employer would this affect them?
