GUS Adds First Call Restorations Ltd. to Network
GUS Adds Fifth Location in Alberta
Toronto, ON (Dec. 16, 2022) – Jaime Smith, Director of Franchise Development for GUS, is pleased to announce that First Call Restorations Ltd. has successfully partnered with GUS, further growing GUS’s network of full-service restoration companies as the banner continues its expansion plans across Canada.
Founded in 2001, First Call Restorations is a family-owned company that has delivered premium emergency and rebuild services to policyholders in Red Deer and surrounding areas for over 20 years. First Call provides a full complement of restoration services to both residential and commercial clients, including sewer backup, water, wind, fire and smoke damage restoration as well as mold remediation and asbestos abatement. Over the years, they have been called upon to assist in multiple major storms in the province, most recently responding to hundreds of claims to assist policyholders after the devastating hailstorm this past summer.
First Call’s founder, Bernie Kulcsar, is a 40-year veteran of the industry. After developing a successful restoration career in the Calgary area, Bernie made the decision to branch out and open his own company in Red Deer. “We’ve worked diligently to build a strong reputation in our community over the past two decades that reflects our core values of service excellence, proficiency, and quality,” Bernie said. “Becoming part of a well-established, innovative network like GUS is the right step at the right time for us. This new partnership perfectly aligns with our vision of the future for First Call, priming us for success as we prepare to take our business to the next level.”
Initially employed in the oil and gas industry, Doreen Kulcsar, Owner of First Call, was brought into the family business during a CAT event and quickly became an integral part of the day-to-day operations. “At First Call, our clients mean everything to us,” said Doreen. “Our focus is always on providing each and every customer with the highest level of service possible. They trust us to help them restore their lives back to normal as quickly as possible after a disaster and we work diligently to do just that, with the utmost care and quality that they deserve. We love what we do, and we’re excited to partner with a client-focused national network of like-minded peers who feel the same passion we do.”
Kelleigh Kulcsar, General Manager of First Call, shifted from a career in social services to managing the family business full time. “This is an exciting time for First Call,” said Kelleigh. “As a locally owned and operated company, we were looking for a partner that would provide us with the strengths of a national network while allowing us to preserve our unique brand of service and the identity we’ve worked hard to build. GUS is that partner, providing us with the support we need to maximize our growth without limiting our market area; and we’re eager to begin this new chapter with them.”
Jaime Smith, Director of Franchise Development for GUS said, “We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Doreen, Bernie, Kelleigh, and the entire First Call Restorations team to the GUS network. First Call is highly respected in the Red Deer community and working with their team has been a dream. Their professionalism, skill, integrity, and compassion exemplify everything we look for in a partner, and we are excited to provide them with new opportunities for growth and bring them to the national stage as a representative of GUS.”
