Cyber risk firm Resilience launches scholarship fund
Cyber risk firm Resilience Cyber Insurance Solutions has launched the Tom Gamble Memorial Scholarship Fund in honor of the company’s former executive vice president and global chief distribution officer who passed away in June.
Gamble (pictured above) joined Resilience in 2020. As an insurance veteran, he held multiple senior executive positions throughout his three-decade career, including national brokerage leader for the Arch Insurance Group. He was also formerly president of Zurich’s global mergers & acquisitions group, where he built and managed the world’s first fully integrated underwriting unit for M&A.
The memorial fund established in Gamble’s name aims to commemorate his “passion for seeking out innovative solutions” by supporting a new generation of cyber risk professionals through two annual security-focused scholarships, a statement from Resilience said. Recipients will be enrolled in two classes at SANS Technology Institute, one of the largest cybersecurity programs in the US and the only college with a cybersecurity focus. Specifically, they will receive training on key techniques to defend networks and build an incident response process for dynamic cyber threats.
“Without exception, cyber risk is the top challenge for businesses today,” Gamble said in 2020. “My goal is to further enhance the innovations that will transform how carriers and brokers serve clients with a better cyber risk management model.”
“You always wanted Tom in the room,” said Mario Vitale, president of Resilience Cyber Insurance Solutions. “His experience, having been through all market conditions, working with clients on all sorts of risks, understanding how people think and why they have a certain perspective, made us all better. His good nature, his smile, and his laugh were infectious. This scholarship is about Tom’s professionalism, his energy, and his passion. Recipients are going to have a lot to live up to.”
