Federal Government calls for pre-budget submissions

12 December 2022

The Federal Government has invited individuals, businesses and other groups to make submissions on ideas and priorities for the next budget.

“The Government places significant importance on receiving submissions in developing its budget strategy and policies,” Assistant Treasurer and Financial Services Minister Stephen Jones said.

“It is vital that the development of public policy is informed by as wide a range of views as possible.”

Mr Jones urges interested parties to lodge submissions as soon as possible, with the Government setting a January 27 closing date.

The budget is expected to return to its typical early May timing, after the schedule was changed this year due to the May federal election. The former Coalition Government handed down a pre-election budget in March and the incoming Labor Government then released an early budget setting out its plans in October.
