Westland Insurance acquires firms in Nova Scotia and Ontario

Gateway Insurance is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia and has been operating for over 50 years. Hutcheson, Reynolds & Caswell, meanwhile, has offices in Huntsville, Bracebridge, Port Carling, and Collingwood in Ontario. Its history traces back to the early 1900s, first established under the name George Hutcheson.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Gateway Insurance and Hutcheson, Reynolds & Caswell to Westland,” said Jamie Lyons, president and COO at Westland. “These are exciting acquisitions for us – both brokerages have long histories of providing best in class insurance coverage and share our dedication to providing great client service. We’re honoured to be able to serve more communities in Ontario and Halifax as we continue our path of national expansion, thanks to the excellent team of insurance professionals at Hutcheson, Reynolds & Caswell and Gateway Insurance Group.”

Westland has continuously invested in expanding its business across Canada via organic growth and strategic acquisitions. The company recently announced its acquisition Hyndman Insurance Group, which has 13 locations across Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.

“Expanding in Atlantic Canada has been an area of strategic importance at Westland for some time, and we’re thrilled to have found such an incredible partner in the Hyndman Insurance Group,” said Lyons at the time of the announcement.

Westland’s latest deals have made the company one of the fastest growing insurance brokers in Canada. Its other recent acquisitions include Palmer Salmon Insurance in Calgary, Alberta and Vachon Insurance Group in Etobicoke, Ontario, as well as the brokerages Arrow Insurance Agency, Emsland & Associates Insurance, and IBMG Canada.
