Miller expands Asia marine business with new hire

Miller has appointed Choo Cai Ling (pictured above) to a production and broking role in its Singapore-based marine team. She reports to Nick King, head of marine for Singapore.

Choo has 15 years of experience in the marine insurance industry, having most recently been associate director of marine at Aon. She spent 10 years in various roles in the global broker’s marine division. Prior to Aon, she was assistant manager of marine at HSBC for four years, and she began her career at Jurong Port in 2007. She specialises in hull, P&I, and marine liabilities.

According to Miller, Choo’s appointment reflects its ongoing commitment to growth in the region and follows the recent hiring of King as head of marine in Singapore, where he leads the expansion of Miller’s marine offering in the Asia-Pacific region.

“We are delighted to welcome Cai Ling to Miller,” King said. “Cai Ling brings expertise in the retail side of the business in Singapore with a very well-established network of clients, insurers, and service providers. Her breadth of marine insurance experience across her previous roles will add great value to our local marine team as we look to grow in both Singapore and the wider region.”

“I am excited to be joining Miller and was attracted by the ambitious plans the team has to grow, both in marine and more broadly within the market,” Choo said. “I look forward to working closely with Nick and the wider team to bolster Miller’s marine offering, making use of my previous experience in the sector to help clients and the team achieve future goals.”
