Berkshire Hathaway, soNomad enter partnership


Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection (BHTP) has announced that it has formed a partnership with the Canadian insurtech soNomad to provide Canadians with travel medical insurance.

soNomad’s Emergency Travel Medical insurance provides Canadian travellers with emergency medical expense coverage while travelling outside their home province or territory, as well as internationally. The medical plan will be underwritten by National Liability & Fire Insurance Company, a Berkshire Hathaway company.

“Our underwriting partnership with soNomad provides us an exciting new opportunity in the Canadian market,” said BHTP president Dean Sivley. “With escalating emergency expenses a possibility for Canadian travellers, our comprehensive travel medical coverage provides essential protection for their vacations.”

For the third quarter of 2022, Berkshire Hathaway posted US$2.69 billion in net losses attributable to company shareholders. By comparison, the company during the same quarter last year reported US$10.34 billion in attributable net earnings.
