CIGNA DHMO vs Enchanced PPO Dental

I am in the hiring process for a state job in CT and was looking into benefits ahead of time if I do get the job. I want to get adult braces, and was comparing the plans to try and find the most affordable way of going about this. I have regular PPO coverage with CIGNA as my father is a state employee, and was told I can have dual dental coverage. Since regular PPO has no orthodontic coverage, Enhanced PPO and DHMO are my two options.

For Enhanced PPO, it has coinsurance of 50% for orthodontics and CIGNA will pay a max of $1,500 total.

For CIGNA DHMO, it is copay only, with the prices corresponding to a pay chart I have looked at. To my understanding, braces will cost a few thousand dollars and can vary on my specific needs. With Enhanced PPO I will only get the $1,500 in savings vs potentially a lot more savings with the DHMO copays. I can provide links to the CIGNA pay chart, state benefit planners, and other information but it is all readily available with a brief google search.

In either case, I would only take the coverage until I am done with the braces and drop it on open enrollment/switch to basic when I lose my fathers coverage when I turn 26. Both coverages are free for employee only coverage.

I understand DHMO has a limited number of carriers, but is this the only major downside to saving potentially a few thousand dollars?

Any insight would be much appreciated, and I don’t mind providing additional details.

Edit: This is the most recent patient charge schedule I could find for CIGNA DHMO https://derp.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/2022-Cigna-DHMO.pdf
