On Medicaid, is it possible to see a psychiatrist in a different county?

I’m currently looking for a psychiatrist.

I have Medi-Cal (also known as Medicaid) and live in Ventura county, California.

The options are slim to say the least.

I have been going through different psychiatrists over the past few years trying to find the right “fit.”

I had one last year who conducted all of our meetings via video call (very convenient) due to Covid.
But then I also found out he lived in ILLINOIS.
He was licenced in California, but lived and worked from Illinois.

Which is what got me thinking about all of this…

I had an amazing psychiatrist back when I was living in Orange county a few years back.
If he’s offering telehealth services now, can’t I just see him instead of wading through one shitty psych after another here in Ventura?

As anyone with Medicaid knows, getting through to those people is laborious, and getting the same answer from them twice is almost impossible.

So before I commit to wasting my day on hold, could anybody possibly help me out?
