Coverys names Elizabeth Brodeur as Senior Vice President and General Counsel 

Coverys, a leading provider of medical professional liability insurance, is pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Brodeur as Senior Vice President and General Counsel effective immediately. Liz will oversee all aspects of Coverys’ legal functions and will work in tandem with Michael Murawski, Director of Legal and Associate General Counsel at Coverys.

Liz brings more than 20 years of legal experience in the insurance industry. She most recently served as General Counsel at Safety Insurance in Boston helping to establish the first in-house non-claims-related legal function over the past nine years. Prior to her role as General Counsel, Liz served as the corporate counsel and led the legal and regulatory compliance team. 

Prior to her work at Safety Insurance, Liz spent 14 years working for the Massachusetts Division of Insurance, serving in several positions of increasing responsibility, most recently as their First Deputy Commissioner of Insurance and, previously, Acting Deputy Commissioner and General Counsel. 

“Liz has deep legal expertise and industry knowledge that will enhance Coverys’ leadership team as we continue to build and protect the Coverys brand, strengthen customer relationships, and implement our long-term strategic plan. Her experience will bring a fresh perspective to our work and will be of great value to our policyholders,” said Joseph G. Murphy, President and CEO.

Liz received her Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Yale University and received her law and master’s degree in environmental law from Vermont Law School. She currently serves as the Chair of the Governing Committee of Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers and previously served as President of the Massachusetts Insurance Federation.
