Insurance Business reveals Australia's top brokerages for 2022


Insurance broking is a huge business – with intermediaries, such as brokers, placing approximately 55% of the $57.5 billion gross written premium (GWP) in the year to December 2021, according to the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA). Insurance Business Australia’s (IB) top brokerages for 2022 have done mega numbers and distinguished themselves by doing it professionally and effectively.

Now IB has revealed this year’s list of top insurance brokerages in Australia after inviting brokerages across the country to submit nominations. To be eligible, the nominees needed to have three or more brokers and be headquartered in Australia. The nominees were ranked on the following criteria:


Number of clients
Client growth
Clients per broker
Policies written
Policies written per broker
Revenue
Revenue per broker
Revenue per policy
Policy revenue growth

Each brokerage supplied its details for the 2021-22 financial year. They were then ranked according to each of the above criteria, with the rankings added together. Akin to a round of golf, those with the lowest overall scores achieved the highest rankings.
