Aon appoints CEO for Indonesia

Aon has appointed Karl Hamann (pictured above) as chief executive officer of its operations in Indonesia. Based in Jakarta, Hamann will report to Owen Belman, chief executive officer of Aon Asia.

Hamann joined Aon from Pacific MMI Insurance, where he was chief executive officer and based in Papua New Guinea. He has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry and has held various leadership roles including CEO of Philippines, Malaysia and South Asia at QBE and commissioner of PT QBE Indonesia.

“I am excited to have Karl on the Aon team,” Belman said. “Indonesia is a strategic market and key to helping address the insurance protection gap in the region and serving underserved markets. He is a proven business leader and having previously lived in Indonesia, brings an understanding of the culture, language and business environment so we can continue to help our clients protect and grow their businesses.”

According to Aon, Hamann specialises in operational transformation, which includes establishing an offshore centre, offshoring functions, and digitalising internal processes, product fulfilment and claims.

“Rapidly changing client expectations require organisations that accelerate innovation, build a strong culture and execute seamlessly,” Hamann said. “I am thrilled to join Aon as the firm continues to innovate and provide data and expertise to help organisations in Indonesia grow and thrive. I look forward to working with the team to continue to deliver insights and scalable solutions to mitigate risk and help organisations make better decisions.”
