Malaysian woman accused of having husband killed for insurance money

A 37-year-old Malaysian woman has been arrested on suspicion that she hired a hitman to kill her husband for insurance money.

The murder happened in the couple’s house in Klang, Selangor on Sept. 15, according to a report by Mothership, citing Chinese-language media China Press, Shin Min Daily and 8World.

At around 1:40am, an intruder allegedly broke into the house and stabbed the victim 14 times in the chest, arms and face. The victim, who worked as a tow truck driver and car parts salesman, was able to run out of the house and ask for help but died from his injuries.

Following the victim’s death, the killer rearranged the crime scene to make it look like a robbery, and the woman allegedly also instructed the killer to take away the hard drive of the house’s CCTV system to destroy the evidence.

When police arrived, the woman said her husband was killed by two robbers from Indonesia, and the robbers took from her several designer bags and MYR40,000 (SG$12,400) in cash.

During the police’s investigation into the crime scene, they found a memory card in the CCTV system that contained footage allegedly revealing that the killer was hired. Authorities have arrested the woman, the killer and two other men as suspected accomplices.

Neighbours told the media that the family, which has three daughters, appeared to be a loving one and that quarrels were rare.
