UniMed appoints veteran executive to its board
Since returning to New Zealand in 2007, Dixon has held several notable executive posts, including chief financial and information officer of Public Trust and, most recently, CFO of Synlait Milk Limited, before moving on to pursue a governance career.
UniMed said the appointment comes as it gears up for strategic enhancement, building on its strong 40-year history of providing health and wellbeing plans to New Zealand businesses and their employees. Dixon succeeds Tim McGuiness, who will retire at the annual general meeting, following nine years of service.
“We are delighted to welcome Angela to the UniMed board and benefit from the extensive experience and knowledge she brings to the table,” said Jane Huria, UniMed’s chair. “Angela stood out to us with her strong financial and commercial acumen, understanding of the insurance sector, and background in significant technology transformation projects. This collective experience, combined with Angela’s personal commitment to driving positive outcomes for more New Zealanders, makes her an exceptional fit for our board.
“At the same time as we welcome Angela to our organisation, we sadly farewell Tim, who has been a valued member of our board since 2013. Tim has been integral throughout his time with UniMed. As chair of the audit and risk committee, he has ensured sound financial integrity and controls, always with our society’s members’ best interests at heart. On behalf of the board, our staff, and all 100,000 UniMed members, I wish to acknowledge and thank Tim for his care, contribution, and stewardship of the organisation.”
Following the annual general meeting, UniMed’s board will be composed of Huria (chair), Peter Tynan (deputy chair), Dixon, Chris Flatt, Ben Kepes and Angus McConnell.
