recently moved states and looking for advice

Hello,

I recently moved from Pennsylvania to Indiana for graduate school, and have run into an issue with my health insurance. I had a Pennie plan in PA that I did not earn any premiums on because I chose to take it over the plans offered through my job (I knew I was moving and didn’t want to lose coverage once I quit and initiated the moving process). Now that I am in Indiana I need to get an indiana-based plan, and so I filled out an application. Because I am making so little as a graduate student I qualify for Indiana’s Medicaid program.

I have some issues that have arisen from this. 1. Everything I’ve read says that someone from the state will contact me to get my plan set up eventually, but that it could take a couple months. I don’t want to lose my health insurance in the meantime though, I have expensive medications I need to buy monthly to keep some health issues under control. 2. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to continue to pay for my Pennsylvania insurance plan in the meantime so I don’t lose coverage, because I’ve moved and no longer live in PA, and 3. My income has dropped drastically since moving and quitting my previous job, and even if I do pay for my health insurance from PA until my coverage in Indiana starts, it’s a high expense.

My questions here are 1. Am I allowed to continue to pay for my Pennsylvania plan until the Indiana plan kicks in, 2. Am I allowed to report the change in income and loss of employment-based insurance offered to me in order to qualify for the tax credits to lower my existing premium (I doubt it but a girl can dream), and 3. If I cannot continue to keep my PA plan until the Indiana Medicaid plan kicks in, is there something I can do to help pay for my medications and not take a lapse in insurance in case something happens? Thank you for your help in advance!
