Among the Medicare supplement policies that United American covers — A, B, D, G, K, L, N, and Medigap — C and F are only available to those eligible for Medicare before 2020.

United American also offers flexible premium annuities.

What are United American Insurance rates like for Medicare?

Many companies try to keep their rate increases low to market value, but this fluctuation will depend on your state. United American’s average Medicare supplement rate increase is between 0.00% and 3.2%.

Your rates will automatically increase because of your age, but the state that you reside in can impact how much these rates increase over time.

What are United American Medigap insurance reviews like?

According to Consumer Affairs, customers have rated United American’s Medicare and Medigap coverage 4.7 out of five stars, with most reviews expressing satisfaction with policy coverage and easy application processes.

Here are some of those reviews:

We’ve been with United American Insurance for 30 years and so far, we haven’t had any problems.

United American Insurance has always been there and I’ve never had one bill. I get the reports monthly and never any out of pocket expenses.

Deborah of Tampa, FL

United American Insurance paid the supplement which is what they’re supposed to be doing. I find them fine but I wish their prices would go down.

Sylvia of W Palm Beach, FL

There were a few complaints about prices with certain rates, but they are in the minority.

How does United American Insurance hold up to UnitedHealthcare?

There is a common comparison between United American Insurance and UnitedHealthcare since they are both big names within the insurance industry. However, some stark differences set them both apart from each other.

While United American Insurance has over 300,000 health care professionals and 4,100 hospitals in their network, UnitedHealthcare has over 1.3 million health care professionals and around 6,000 hospitals and other care facilities.

Supplemental coverage is also slightly different between both United American and UnitedHealthcare:

United American Insurance Company

Cancer insurance
Critical illness insurance
Accident insurance

UnitedHealthcare

Hospital and doctor insurance
Vision insurance
Term life insurance
International travel insurance
Accident insurance
Hospitalization insurance
Critical illness insurance
Student health insurance

As you can see, UnitedHealthcare has far more benefits than United American when it comes to coverage. It’s hard to not see the differences when you compare UnitedHealthcare’s company size to United American.

This doesn’t mean that United American is out of the game. The company has promoted that their “smaller” business model is intentional and that they want to maintain the atmosphere of being a smaller company with the backing and longevity of a larger one.

This is to provide their customers with the personal touch that only a smaller business would be able to provide.

United American Insurance Ratings: The Bottom Line

United American Insurance is excellent insurance for anyone who needs straightforward plans with the backing of a company that’s been around for decades.

This alone helps them stick out among their competition.
