First baby – new dad needs major advice – family out of pocket max not matching at all

Hello,

So I have United Health Care with imbedded 5k personal max and 10k family max.

We just had our first baby. The hospital bill came through directly to us and also we have the EOB on UHCs website. I understand there is many other EOBs and many other bills but for simplicity’s sake let’s focus on the hospital bill.

My wife was c-section and was charged 4.5k and hit her max (she was already 500 deep). Makes sense. Her Hospital bill is 4.5k and the EOB matched and she now shows hitting her personal max. Perfect and makes sense.

Here’s where I am pulling my hair out..:

My son was billed by the hospital $4,280.70 as well. So as of right now I own the hospital itself about 9k. Makes sense, my family out of pocket is 10k. However on my UHC portal it says only $5.6k toward my family out of pocket max and the EOB for the $4280.70 says “may owe 0”

So it thinks I wasn’t charged for that $4,280.70 bill but I fully was.

At this rate if I send the hospital 9k and UHC thinks I’m only at 5.6k family then I’m gunna be more liken 13.5k spent before I actually hit my out of pocket max.

Again I want to emphasis our plan is embedded and my wife’s 5k is contributing. It just thinks my son has only been charged $600 ish here and there (pediatrician apts etc).

What are my next steps? Am I an idiot? Can I fix this? Thanks so so so so so much to anyone who helps.
