Need advice on getting insurance to pay for MRI

My husband, 28, broke his T1 and C7 almost 10 years ago. After healing his doctor noted that it did not fuse back correctly and would probably need surgery at some point for it to be healed correctly. The surgery was not done at that time being that it was his senior year of high school and they did not want him to miss out on his last year of sports and school etc.. It has always caused neck pain and headaches, however in the last two weeks has went from being a minor issue to now causing so much pain he can barely move. He to ortho and did X-ray but due to the location and MRI would give her a better view on what’s going on (when he first broke it, it didn’t show up on X-ray but did on an MRI) His insurance will only cover an MRI after he does 6 weeks of PT. He was prescribed an anti inflammatory and muscle relaxer to help. It’s been a week since going to doctor and it has gotten much worse. Pain was a 5/6 and is now a 10 almost constantly. He cannot work because of the pain. How can I get insurance to cover an MRI? His doctor put in a request for an MRI but said his insurance will likely deny it until after the 6 weeks but I don’t want to see him in pain for 6 weeks. Any advice on what to do? Sorry for long post!
