[Septoplasty/Turbinectomy] Question about needing to rule out allergies for insurance purposes before surgery. (United Healthcare)

Long story short, been only getting ~3-4 hours of sleep the past 18 months, turns out its related to my nose and I am working on getting surgery soon.

I saw my ENT/Plastic Surgeon on June 27th, he said my nose needs work done but that insurance will require to rule out allergies first before we can proceed. He said I need to go on Flonase for 8 weeks and asked me how long I’ve been on it, I said only 3 weeks (should have just said 8), and that I also need to get allergy tested and then come back to see him in 6 weeks. I have gotten my allergy test and am currently scheduled to see him again mid august.

My question is, can I come back sooner than 6 weeks (say 4 weeks/end of July) and just tell him that I misremembered when I started on flonase, and have been on it for 8 weeks by then? Or could my insurance use that to potentially deny coverage for the surgery?

I’m sure that my Doc himself wouldn’t care, but I wonder if my insurance would be able to try to deny my claim or something if they look at my chart from that day and see I said I was only on it for 3 weeks at the last appointment. I have no problem waiting out the extra time if I need to, but this sleep deprivation has me in a very dark place and I’d prefer to get this surgery done ASAP. Thanks.
