Overview

Chevy’s mid-size pickup is among the best in terms of handling, and is offered in guises ranging from dependable work truck to mud-eating ZR2 off-road conqueror. Due for a full-fledged revision, the 2023 Colorado is likely to offer many of the updates that its full-size pickup brother, the Silverado 1500, recently received. We expect the new truck to reuse most of the same guts it’s had since the second-generation Colorado debuted in 2014. Details on the new Colorado are still closely guarded, but Chevy promises to divulge more info on its Missouri-built mid-sizer at the end of July.

What’s New for 2023?

Chevy has already teased an all-new Colorado ZR2 for 2023. Although the video they’ve published is only a few dramatic glances at details like a revised rear quarter panel, tailgate, and front bumper—fitted with a large brush bar that houses an LED lightbar. More information on the new Colorado ZR2 is coming at the end of July 2023.

We’d recommend the model that makes the Chevy unique among mid-size pickups. That’s the jacked-up, wide-bodied ZR2. Sure, it’s the most expensive trim level, but it has a host of exclusive equipment that makes it a serious off-road monster, including exotic spool-valve dampers, electronic locking differentials on both axles, and one of the wilder front ends we’ve seen on a modern truck.
